Updates from the studio of Josée Aubin Ouellette
Remnants of doorways, bridges, and aqueducts, all boarded up, make me want to paint.

New La Fabrique Headquarters: Bertha, my new vintage sewing machine, and a lot of IKEA stuff… I don’t feel like buying any cheap crap to wear, and I can’t afford nice stuff, so I’ll gladly make my own.
This is a series of images of what I call Monuments, most are fragments of dis-used architecture. I’ve been collecting them since the spring as research for my MFA. There are many excellent specimens in Glasgow, and I can’t wait to document them.

This was in London near the Serpentine Gallery.

Ticket Booth at the amphitheatre in Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow.

Dis-used Stage, a monument to outdoor theatre. I love the loud speakers.

A German minimalist playground structure in the park next door to us. It’s so absurdly sinister, it looks like a monument. I love it as a sculpture, but I’m not sure if children like it as a play space.
I’m starting to get this pudding thing. Slowly but surely, I will become Queen of Puddings.
Went for a swim at the local pool today…

This is my new 40£ bicycle, Stella. She is from West Germany and she has a magical Dynamo Lighting system, big cushy tires, and a comfortable seat. I bought her in a parking lot, then we rode off into the sunset.

Scenes from our neighbourhood in Glasgow. Don’t worry, we finally got the courage to wander further than our little street, more photos to come!
I think these shots prove that in order to make our life look good on the internet, I’m going to need a new camera. So much potential… such poor quality images.

There’s a whole other sort of magic in Glasgow. Here we are in our new late 19th century tenement flat, which we have barely left since we arrived last night because we are busy sleeping. We live one block from the School of Art and a fabric store, and across the street from the art store, but are still looking for a good bakery. Hello Glasgow, hopefully we can hang out tomorrow!

I tried to capture what I love about the city to take with me, and ended up with lots of construction shots and geometry. I wish I had made a more serious project of this because there are so many special places.

Portable Art in the making!
